Case studies, incorporating hands-on and classroom work give students the opportunity to practice their acupressure skills. Small Animal Acupressure Intensive Program - Hood River, OR - October 5-15, 2013
The Acupressure Intensive Program is designed for qualified animal practitioners (massage, vet techs, rehab techs, vets, etc) that have a solid background in anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, safety, behavior and handling. Tui Na - Level 1, The Original Chinese Meridian Massage - Equine or Canine - Littleton, CO - June 15-16, 2013

All massage is based on the original Chinese Meridian Massage called Tui Na, pronounced “Tway Nah.” It is a form of body work and manipulation that has a long history in Chinese medicine. Practitioners since 2700 B.C. have used these techniques in working with acupoints and meridians along with limb stretching and manipulation to prevent and treat disease. As part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and as an adjunct to veterinary therapy, Tui Na facilitates and dramatically improves the therapeutic results of acupressure for horses, dogs, and cats while contributing to their health and well-being. Introduction to Equine or Small Animal Acupressure - Littleton, CO - September 21-22 (9-5), 2013

This course offers you the ability to perform a complete acupressure treatment protocol and an understanding of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) concepts and theories underlying acupressure. Since Acupressure is based on TCM, we will explore this ancient science and guide you in learning how to help your animals feel their best. Students studying either Equine or Small Animal Acupressure may attend this course. There are no prerequisites to this course.

Meridians & Specific Conditions 1&2 - Littleton CO - September 23-26, 2013

This course is divided into two sections so that we can cover 6 of the 12 Major Meridians in each section. Following the categorization of the Five-Element Theory, the courses offer greater depth regarding the types of physical and psychological issues presented when particular meridians are not in balance.

This course presents a systematic approach to learning the anatomical landmarks necessary for locating acupressure points on horses. Emphasis is placed on the location of major bones, joints, tendons, muscles, and ligaments. Upon completion, participants are able to use anatomical language, locate points using anatomical landmarks and know the function and energetics of specific acupoints.

Participants learn the basics of how to identify imbalances of yin and yang in an animal and understand how Chi functions along with how exogenous, emotional and other pathogenic factors that can cause imbalances. The course offers an overview of methods used to assess patterns of disharmony including the Yin-Yang Theory, Four Examinations, Eight Principles, and Zang-Fu Theory, Pulses, and Tongue Assessment. This course requires reading assigned texts prior to attending the course and successful completion of an introductory course.

Practicum & Blue Book Exam - Equine or Small Animal - Littleton, CO - August 10, 2013

The Practicum is the culmination of the Practitioner Certification Program. It is an opportunity to integrate all that has been learned in the previous courses and demonstrate a level of competency in: assessment of animal issues and conditions; developing a treatment plan based on knowledge and understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine theory and application; and, performance of acupressure treatments on either horses or dogs. The intent is to have participants continue to learn and share knowledge with other participants and the instructors. The instructors will evaluate each participant individually regarding theoretical knowledge and direct application of acupressure. The instructors are responsible for determining the participant’s competency level and designation of a Practitioner Certification.
