Flatulent or Gas Colic

 

     A flatulent or gas colic often displays as excessive gas production in the intestine, accompanied with intense and violent abdominal pain. The tongue will often be coated white, and there will be an absence of manure.

BI 25 Large Intestine Transporting Regulates the Large Intestines. Relieves abdominal pain, gas, and constipation.
BI 27 Small Intestine Transporting Relieves indigestion and lower abdominal pain.

          In TCM terms, this type of colic is known as a Small Intestine Pattern. This pattern can be brought about by a variety of causes, including cribbing, a sudden change in feed, or an excessive intake of cold food or water. On an emotional level, frustration or anger can bring on such a condition. Acupoints to work for this type of colic are aimed at moving the small intestine Chi and reducing pain.
