See Spot Live Longer:
How to help your dog live a longer and healthier life!
By Steve Brown & Beth Taylor

3Ever wonder why you hear of so many dogs and cats dying of cancer these days? And, why are so many dogs and cats suffering from other diseases like diabetes, arthritis, inflammatory bowel, and hip dysplasia? Allergies galore, horrible skin irritations, runny eyes, and, oh my, all the poor pups experiencing seizure disorders – Something is very wrong, our beloved fuzzy friends are suffering and dying young. For those of us who love these little guys it is terribly painful to see them have miserable lives and die way before their time in increasing numbers.

The authors of See Spot Live Longer provide us with well-substantiated answers to why we are losing our best friends too soon. They look at the dog’s ancestral diet and compare it to how we are feeding them today. They explain the canine anatomical digest process so that we can understand why and when our animals are at risk from different types of food and potential toxins. Brown and Taylor describe how most commercial manufacturers select the ingredients to prepare dry kibble and how the usual extrusion process destroys the vital quality of nutrients. Storage of the kibble presents other issues involving mycotoxins (i.e., “the waste products form molds that eat grains”) that have been proven to be carcinogenic.

The book is incredibly informative. The bottom line is: Not only do most manufactured dry dog foods not provide the nutrients our dogs need and thus cause malnutrition; commercial foods also contain toxins that are over-burdening their bodies and compromising their immune systems so that they fall prey to disease.

In the last segment of See Spot Live Longer, Taylor and Brown take a pragmatic approach to feeding our dog’s fresh, real food. They recognize the need for convenience and containing the costs of dog food, while offering us some sound solutions to feeding better.

We are very impressed with the amount of research that was compiled to create this book. But, the value in See Spot Live Longer is what the reader does next. Information is just information until you do something that will benefit your dogs. We hope this book will motivate as many people as possible to do a better job of feeding so that all of our dogs will live a lot longer.
