Animal Acupressure Advanced Level Courses

Equine & Small Animal Acupressure

The Advanced level courses required for Practitioner Certification are described below. These courses are also available to people not in the Tallgrass Practitioner Program.  Participants in the Practitioner Program should have completed the Introductory and Intermediate Online and Hands On courses prior to taking the advanced level courses.
 
 
Online - Acu-Point Energetics and Landmark Anatomy – Equine or Canine
              16 Units / 3 month completion / 30 LUs or 20 CE hours
                 Prerequisite: All Introductory & Intermediate Courses
Animal Acupressure Advanced Classes
NOTE: Participants in the Certificate Program are required to complete both the Online and Hands-on Acu-Point Energetics courses.

REQUIRED MATERIALS: Acupoint Energetics DVD & Manual - $77.00. (Same materials are used for the Hands-on & On-Line Course, purchase one time only). 

This Online course puts into action the systematic approach to learning the anatomical landmarks presented in the online course. Emphasis is placed on the location  and function of major bones, joints, tendons, muscles, and ligaments plus the location and function of key acupoints.  This course is designed to aid students in study for their practicum acu-point location and energetics.

Upon completion, participants are able to use anatomical language, locate points using anatomical landmarks and know the function and energetics of specific, key acupoints, from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective.
     
A Certificate of Completion for 30 LUs or 20 CE hours is available after successful participation in the hands-on course.  Fee: Equine / Canine Online Course – $275.00

Hands-On - Acu-Point Energetics and Landmark Anatomy – Equine or Canine
                       2 Days / 30 LUs or 20 CE hours
                       Prerequisite: All Introductory & Intermediate Courses

This hands-on course provides a visual and experiential approach to learning the anatomical landmarks presented in the online course. Hands-On - Introduction to Indicators & Assessment – Equine or Small Animal 

                       2 Days / 30 LUs or 16 CE hours
                       Prerequisite: All Introductory & Intermediate Courses

Participants learn the basics of how to identify Patterns of Disharmony, explore Yin-Yang Theory more in-depth, apply Meridian Theory in discerning patterns, review the function of Vital Substances, gain a further understanding of the Eight Principles. A review of Exogenous Pathogens is included, as well as an overview of Pulse and Tongue Assessment.  This course is specifically designed to aid the Tallgrass participant in becoming an Animal Acupressure Practitioner.

A Certificate of Completion for 30 LUs or 16 CE hours is available after successfully passing an Open-Book, Take-Home Examination.  Fee: Small Animal  / Equine - $350.00                                              animal acupressure advanced cat                

NOTE: Concerning the Pathology Courses Listed Below: One Pathology Course, either Online or Hands-on, is required in the Acupressure Practitioner Certification Program. Participants are welcome to take both Online and Hands-on Pathology Courses, but only one is required.

The Equine Pathology Course is offered as an online and hands-on course. Participants taking both the online and hands-on lab courses will have the opportunity to reinforce their knowledge of common equine pathologies, vital equine health signs, dental issues and much more. The lab and online courses are designed to complement each other. If both Equine Pathology courses are taken, the cost of the 2nd course is 1/2 price, or $175.00.

Online - Health & Pathology - Equine or Canine

                 15 Units / 3 month completion / 30 LUs or 16 CE Hours
                 Prerequisite: For the Certification Program Participants, the Online or Hands-on
                 course must be completed prior to the taking the Practicum. Others are welcome
                 to take this course at anytime.  

The Online Health & Pathology courses provides an overview of common equine and canine pathologies. Each pathology described includes a description of the issue, anatomical and physiological discussion, its clinical signs, treatment patterns, and information on health and prevention.

Written in conjunction with Bill Harnetty, DVM, Hocking College, this course provides bodyworkers with additional tools and information to help them asses the animal and recognize physiological health conditions requiring immediate veterinarian attention. A more Western approach was taken with this class to provide students with the knowledge and reference materials to recognize and stay within their scope of practice.      

A Certificate of Completion for 30 LUs or 20 CE hours is available after successfully completing the unit quizzes and final examination online. Fee: Online Course – $350.00

Electives - 40 Electives required to complete program                               

Two Elective courses are required to complete the Practitioner Certification Program. Participants will receive 20 LUs for each Elective. It is not required that these courses be taken through Tallgrass though we suggest people check our course schedule for some of these electives. Electives are available through Tallgrass Animal Acupressure Institute which are listed in the menu under Training Program - Electives. Examples of elective courses are: Spirits in Transition, Tui Na/Chinese Massage, Essential Oils, Reiki, Kinesiology, etc. 

Participants are welcome to submit certificates or letters of completion in other areas of complementary medicine study not listed above for approval and acceptance as an Elective.

The Practicum is the culmination of the Practitioner Certification Program. It is an opportunity to integrate all that has been learned in the previous courses and demonstrate a level of competency in: assessment of animal issues and conditions; developing a treatment plan based on knowledge and understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine theory and application; and, performance of acupressure treatments on either horses or dogs. The intent is to have participants continue to learn and share knowledge with other participants and the instructors. The instructors will evaluate each participant individually regarding theoretical knowledge and direct application of acupressure. The instructors are responsible for determining the participant’s competency level and designation of a Practitioner Certification.
 
Upon successful completion, participants receive their Tallgrass Equine or Small Animal Practitioner Certification, which qualifies as a certificate of achievement in the field of animal acupressure. Fee: Small Animal / Equine $275.00
